Northern Illinois Yamaha dealer shop reviews

Hey all,

I'm looking for any good or bad reviews from Yamaha dealer service shops in northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin. I have to get a recall completed on my Gen III FJR and I don't really know who to trust. I try to do as much Mx as I can on my own because I enjoy it, but as a negative of that I don't really have any experience with shops around me.

Any info good or bad is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't know any dealer in your area, but kinda depends on the recall too... none come to mind for the 2013......

Hey Ray,

Yeah I was confused by that. When I type the VIN into the Yamaha Recall Info Inquiry it comes up with:

M2014-015 "2014 FJR1300A CODE 14" (so would this not apply because its a 2014 issue?)

and

M2019-003 "Relocate Air Vent Hose"

Couldn't figure out how to actually pull up the bulletin for both but still googling so I'm sure I'll find it soon.

Code 14 seems related to the MAP sensor... mounted at the throttle bodies with two screws. Electrical connector and vacuum hose underneath... doesn't matter what year FJR, the vacuum hose sometimes gets a waxy build-up and can clog, bike won't run well. Usually takes some mileage... actually haven't heard anyone with Gen3 issues related to MAP sensor.

Simple to remove, don't need to unplug, just remove vacuum hose, ensure it is clean end to end, and remove any build-up at the nipple. Not sure if this works, but a couple of folks found slight re-routing of the hose to ensure it always can drain......
Not sure on the "Relocate Air Vent hose"..... perhaps check all hoses to other areas....
NOTE - Gen3 has 2 MAP sensors (aka intake air pressure sensors).
I'd say do all this yourself, it's simple enough. Any dealer should be able to do it also.
