Unhappy Windshield

Hi all,

New to this site and new to FJR's. I recently bought a 2006 and i believe the windshield was a "Vstream". Well driving home from work a couple of days ago, the windshield left the bike, flew over my head and disappeared into the bushes. Luckily there was nobody behind me so I just left it figuring it was done anyway. I realized later that it had also taken the front mounting piece which is the same color as the bike (blue). Has anyone had this experience and what parts do I need to replace it. Any recommendations on where to get the parts as well?

Well that was a more interesting windshield thread than I expected. Smarter folks will be along with answers. I am very curious what came loose to cause that. Glad you weren’t injured.

I just changed shields on my bike a couple of days ago, there are 2 allens and 6 phillips screws holding all that stuff on on my 18A. I think the screws are plastic though. Still hard to believe all that could fail.

I'd bet the plastic screws failed, and who knows how old/stressed they were...... no harm in going with stainless IMHO. Can you go back and get your decorative pieces (or the whole thing might be still in decent shape.......

Glad to hear you weren't hurt. And now my first thoughts:

I guess that VStream vortex really works....

You didn't hit that special button on the 2006 did you?

We know you used to ride a Harley and wanted that fresh air feel.....

You have to let go of the up button on that motorized windshield......

Seriously, the prior person that had that windshield off, obviously didn't attach it correctly. I believe this is the first ever windshield loss. Definitely not a common thing, even with the plastic screws.

I didn't hit the special button, no and I've only ever ridden a Harley once, no offense to any Harley riders! Thank you all for the feedback!
