New hard saddlebags?

New member, riding an FJ for now, but I have a chance to buy an FJR, 2003.
The price is good, because a minor traffic accident damaged both side bags.
Factory bags are too pricey, and right now, eBay has only junk.
I'd like to find some generic hard bags that would go with the bike.
They do not need to be as large as the Yamaha bags. I have seen the GIVI line.
Leather bags just don't seem right for this bike either, IMHO.
Any suggestions would be welcome, here.

Cheers,
Red

Hi and welcome, Red. I suggest you post up where you are, or better still, add it to your profile. I think you'll get a better response that way.

I know you are looking for hard bags, but personally I would get a set of quality soft bags if my hard bags were trashed. There are many options out there. They are light, spacious, easy to add/remove, much less expensive, and they open from the top (something I don't like about the side-opening FJR bags.) Just another option.

Something like these would work/look great on an FJR.

New hard saddlebags?

David,

I added a location, and an avatar, but the avatar picture fails to load. I looked at the pixel and kb limits, and my picture is within the limits, but it does not take.

MJS,

Those saddlebags look decent, and the prices are good. I will have to keep them in mind.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Red

I've got a pair of like-new factory hard sidecases with liners from my 2013 FJR that was totaled. Bags weren't on the bike at the time. Email me at socalwellness at cox dot net.

Hepco and Becker offer a side rack for Gen I (http://www.motomachines.com/Side-car...05_p_2314.html) that allow any Hepco Becker side case to be used, but at $315 for the racks before the cost of the actual bags it may be a whole lot cheaper to buy a second hand set of bags and get them painted.

Red, I have a set of the Nelson-Rigg bags sitting on the shelf in my garage. If you buy the bike, I'll make you a good deal on them if you want them. I used them on my Honda V65 Magna. Sold the bike so they just sit.

You can buy yamaha bags that will fit with no modifications from ebay sellers. They will fit all Yamaha but they are not colored. Here is the link

Those are the 22 litre bags for the Tracer...... the base is the same as FJR but the lids are much flatter.
