Custom Paint Jobs

Seeing the splash of red on [email protected] 's Corbin Smuggler that is listed for sale, has me wondering if maybe my Practical Blue 2012 would like a face lift, or at least some tasteful applications of colored tape/appliques.

What paint jobs has anyone seen that look good, bad, or ugly? Are there any West Coast painters who seem to understand the FJR lines?

What strikes your fancy?

Eric

I’m not a fan of most aftermarket paint jobs. But that’s because I’ve seen so many bad ones. I have always liked the stripe decals I used to see on the lower fairings of some FJR’s. I am considering the Yamaha logo reflective film that goes over the moveable gen III side panels from realtime industries.

No commercials. No dictators.

A burnt orange done right would be nice ! Or,,,, being that red is the very fastest color maybe the Candy Glory Red that they used on the early (75-77) Goldwing 1000’s, it is several shades darker than that of the 2014’s, might make the fastest red 2014’s faster still .

I'd like to see the FJR in the old Kenny Roberts era Grand Prix yellow/black paint scheme.

Somewhere sometime back there was a post with photoshopped FJ's in various colors. I did not bookmark it but recall seeing it. I always thought a white pearl colored FJR would be good looking. With proper paint additives and a full disassembly and proper paint job the finish should be as good as factory job. Labor for RnR of all pars would get time consuming but you would have a unique bike.
