Akrapovic Exhaust

The parts/service manager (and owner) of my local Yamaha shop called me last week and said that he could get me a ridiculously great deal on a set of Akrapovic slip-ons for the FJR. It was an offer that I just couldn't refuse. I installed them last night and went for a little ride. They look great, are about half the weight of the stock pipes and although maybe not as loud as I would have expected, they definitely have a nice low-end tone to them. I am very pleased indeed!

Lookin' good! One thing I like about my Delk mufflers is that during "normal" riding or droning down the hwy they're not too loud but when the right hand twisty thing is used liberally they have a nice bark to them.

I've had Akrapovic exhausts on my various R1s; and like you, was a little disappointed with the sound. Very well made, just not the sound I was hoping for.

When I was a track-a-holic on my R1 & R6, I used to think that the FJR was an old man's bike. Then I got one and absolutely love it. Hey...wait a minute!

After a quick discussion with a buddy of mine and my dealer I decided to remove the Akropovic decals from the mufflers. Just concerned that if they get scratched or start bubbling off in the future and I remove them they'll leave a mark. I also removed the Race Tech stickers under the side covers - they had been put there by the previous owner (Sorry Mel!). I think this is a cleaner look.

Weird, I used to want Akropovic, but now I'm over it. Definitely looks better without the graphics.

Wait, I though stickers make things go faster.

Don't forget that Loud Pipes Save Lives! Take the baffles out and you will become a local hero!

I too like a nice, deep rumble but I cannot stand obnoxiously loud. I am on the fence about removing the stickers. As long as YOU are happy, that's what matters.

Never run out of ideas, traction, and real estate at the same time.

Glad you took off those stickers. I think the bike looks much better without them.

Edit: you forgot the ones on the forks and wheels. LOL
