A lot of short trips by the prevoius owner? Extreme fuel dilution? Did the oil have a strong gas smell to is. Still, that's a ton of fuel, but realistically that could be oil from the 600 mile service still in it or worse that could be the factory fill, 6-7 years of short trips...

look for the thread on the stiff throttle. you'll basically take a wrap out of the return spring. easy to do, lets the throttle drop back to idle without snapping back. you won't have to maintain a tight grip which gets old after a few hours.

The oil that I drained out looked perfectly fine, no gas smell at all.
