Bent brake pedal

In addition to a bent rear rim, I came back from a trip Friday with a bent brake pedal. I didn't even notice either of them until changing a tire today.

While traveling on the interstate a road gator mysteriously appeared from beneath the car in front of me. It was a big son of a gun as road gators go and was still flopping when I tried to dodge it. I dodged to the left and managed to catch it with my right toe whereupon it attempted to tear my foot off my leg. Thank goodness for adequate boots; I've got a somewhat swollen foot today, but I can still walk. I noticed this morning though, that my brake pedal is bent.

Has anyone successfully just bent one back? I've done it on other bikes, but since I'm trying to get this thing ready for another trip I'm taking no chances. it does function as is. Like I said, I didn't even notice until I was removing the rear whee.

Just keepin' up with traffic, Officer.

Thank God that you did not fall off the bike. The bike can always be repaired.

Replace it. It's already weakened.

Yeah. And I'm almost past the point of repair without crashing.

More than likely. I'd agree.

As it is, it functions. I didn't even realize it was bent that badly 'til I saw it.

Thanks guys. I'll just leave it alone until I get a replacement. $70 at Partzilla.

Mr. E:

Yowza! Glad to hear you were able to keep the shiny side up and that you weren't hurt any worse. Good for you for having good boots on when you needed them.

I second your decision to not try to bend it back and to spend the $70.

Have fun on the upcoming trip.

I agree that, for $70, I'll just buy a new one.

Funny, there are rear end pumpkins for 50.00 and whole FI assembly's for 80.00 and everyone wants 60.00 for a brake pedal.

What are you doing to replace or repair the rear wheel?
