brake light stays on

I have an 06 FJR that is holding the brake light on. Narrowed i down to front brake handle not travelling far enough to operate the switch (switch is good). I have drained the fluid and removed the reservoir from the handlebars in hope of being able to clean the plunger so it would travel further and make the switch. However, I am struggling with how this thing may be taken apart to clean. Any suggestions from others who have done this would be appreciated. Thanks

You may find that it is the rear brake pedal that is sticking, You then need to remove the pedal and retaining bolts, squirt spray grease or similar around the splines and wiggle it to and fro. With a bit of wriggling and perhaps a bit more spraying it should free off.
Unless the switch operated by the front lever is broken it will not be the problem

My front lever on my 07 did the same thing. Numerous cleanings never helped. I got in the habit of pushing it forward after pressing the brakes. So much so it took a while to break that habit with my next bike. I never found an answer but maybe you will.

Its me.

I'd think it was the rear switch. Let us know what you find.

This is actually the first time I ever heard of it being the front brake switch. Many, many FJRs have had the rear brake pedal not return fully. In that instance it is a simple matter of lubrication. If it is the rear pedal sticking like most of us have seen or experienced, it will look fine. The pedal will look like it has returned to its normal position. A slight tug upwards will quickly reveal the truth.

If it is in fact in the front, I too will be curious to know what you find. Good luck.

Never run out of ideas, traction, and real estate at the same time.
