Doesn't look like an Aussie police bike, not a standard P model from factory. You'll need a few items. Eg reposition the seat lock, the rear plastics etc. Just check out the wreckers.

The Australian AP's are listed on some aussie microfiche sites, Yamaha don't normally sell white plastics.

That is a nice looking bike. I want one just like it, with the A suspension too.

Looks like an old Buick to me. Sorry fellas but for me white is a non-color. White with black wheels to boot- ho hum. I wouldn't mind having some of the accessories that are on it tho.

Generally I agree, but the pearl white on a Ducati 848 is pretty sweet.

My mate is buying a 2013 AP today down Sydney.
Unfortunately the police use them for 2 years then flog them off at the auctions.

He's buying an Canberra Federal Police bike that was only used in ceremonies, escort duties ...... a good buy !
So these ex cop bikes totally flood the markets and lower the price on all others.

I've worked on several AP bikes and generally they have NEVER been serviced, normally they are in a horrible condition, no service history.
You are lucky to get the master red or spare black key, books, nor the blanking caps for the pannier attachment points.
I sometimes giggle when I show the owner the relay arm, air filter or use brute force trying to remove the universal, or the several sticky strings in the tyres.

They are Yamaha factory built, have a supplemental police manual and come with a single seat, the rear radio box, engine and pannier guards, normally wired up 2nd rectifier and battery, all accessory switches & wiring is insitu.
A lot of our members bring them back to a 2 seater and flog the police stuff off, in Queensland we can get single seat rego, about 1/2 price and cheaper insurance.

It does appear that the p-bike has a different seat than the pos that they give the normal non-police customers, is that the case ken ? It appears to have a more broad rear section for support and I can't believe any officer wanting or being able to ride the stock seat all day.

Plus higher and farther back bars. I guess I don't see why they (Yamaha) don't offer up some options on all that so you can have things setup the way you want when it rolls out the dealers door, plus they could actually make a bit more money, you'd think.

That's right Steve,
I can't comment on the various USA bikes but the AP bikes have a slightly lower and shorter rider seat ........ maybe to accommodate the radio box.

They all come out stock with riser blocks.

I'll post up a pic of my mates Gen3 AP when he does, he's having a huge day about 400kms still to get home, not bad for 78 years young.

A Gen 2 AP

The police add then remove the various stickers, lights, sirens and accessories when buying / selling the bike. The accessory wiring loom and switches are factory.

When there was a change of government, our leader dropped any new purchases, Yamaha had a huge amount of stock to get rid of ..... so they sold them off to the public both in single seat and duel seat versions, called them a Special Touring Edition, lol lol. Flooded the market lol lol
