other bikes

Got to ride a BMW RT 1200 yesterday and was glad to get back on the FJR. Nice ergos, but not happy with the boxer engine. Also got to ride a Gold Wing and that wasn't for me either.Nice to know i have a bike that excites me and keep the smiles comming. The more I ride this bike the more I like it.

I agree the BMW R1200RT is comfortable but the engine vibrates on acceleration much more than the FJR and of course nowhere near the power.

Other bikes

Many years ago I had a 1000cc BMW HO/Boxer twin. It was comfortable. It was fast and it was the only bike I have ridden that wobbled on bends.

Try the K 1600 for size, you may be surprised

BMW

That 1600 is a great bike, but for me I'm going for a different 2nd bike.I'd like to pick up a used Ymaha Raider for some shorter rides and keep the FJR for the longer rides.

Raider

got a 09 Raider with 800 miles on it.yamaha did a nice job on this bike. Not made for long rides, but a nice contrast to the fjrno way I'd sell the fj though.

My second bike is a Suzuki GSX 1400. Great for the warmer weather and evening blasts to the coast !! It certainly is comfortable over any distance, but i will use the FJR for touring !!!!

That's a beauty of a report all right. Haven't been down there in 20+ years. May have to remedy that soon.
