Considering buying ONLY front Sargent Seat

Hey everyone,
I'm considering buying only the rider sargent seat for my 15 1300ES and leaving the back OEM. Anyone have this setup? How does it look? Pic?

My wife does not / will not ride with me...so there's no need to spend 200 extra for that back seat...if it looks fine without doing that, i'll do it.

Current Ride:
2015 Yamaha FJR 1300ES
OEM touring pack
Seat customized by Mean City Cycles
Delkavic 9" oval exhaust
tech mount stem mount for phone, etc.

Former Rides:
2009 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager
2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 LT
2008 Honda Rebel

If you go with something from Laam or Seat Concepts, you can get a matching cover for the rear section so it matches for not a lot of $$.

Just buy the front seat; save the $ for other mods. Case closed.

I got just the front Sargent seat also but I replaced the passenger seat with a Corbin Smuggler. Very happy with the Sargent and the way the bike looks with the Smuggler. Great place to store items that need quick access (gloves and rain gear). I was not happy with the Corbin seat. While it had a great fit and looked good, it could only be mounted in the lower position and I did not like it for comfort.

My wife too will not ride. I had a Corbin front and OEM rear. Looked fine to me and besides, no one can see the difference when going down the road.

I concur with the others- get the front only and save your money. And here's a hint: buying a Smuggler is NOT saving yourself any money .

The Smuggler is overpriced but was bought with that knowledge. The color matches perfectly and I think it looks good. I was setting the bike up for solo riding and was looking for a way to make the passenger seat useful. Saw a few ideas on this forum of what other members have done. Plus I thought I would like the Corbin seat. While money is important, some things are bought, just because you want them. So,the bottom line is, I wasn't happy with the seat but I'm very happy with the Smuggler.

If you order the front with flat stitching (no piping) it will match stock pretty closely. I ordered both front/back on the 5th...waiting for it to show up. I got the flat stitching on mine.

Go look at this thread: Sargent world sport plus seat

We recently bought Sargent seats -- front only (with heat option) for our two FJR's ... I got it without the "welting" (piping) and it matches very well with the stock back -- even the seat pattern matches well (IMO). My wife got it with the "welting" and when she saw mine, prefers it better. We are both enjoying the greater comfort!! I'll try and post a pic when I can.
