According to AOL Yellow Pages, there are two pizza places about a block away from each other in Packwood.

Ma & Pa Graffs
13015 US Highway 12, Packwood, WA 360-494-2651

Cruisers Pizza
13028 US Highway 12, Packwood, WA 360-494-5400

We could probably park at both and talk to each other!

Cruisers is the one I'm familiar with. Decent food and shade to park in across the street at the park. (visable from the restaraunt)

Woohoo! Nice to meet all of you in person. Riders included FJroamer, Sharp, Miatafjr, Guy, John, Brad, and myself.

The day included much good riding, interesting photo opportunities, bike inspections, and much more that may or not make it to this forum.

It was good to ride with a group of like-minded FJR owners, made for a great day out and about.

I had washed my bike spotlessly and packed my extra clothes then my boss called and requested me to work Saturday.
I thought about you guys all day! Hope you had a fine ride. I'd love to see the new '04 colors in person some day. I'll wait for the pictures and stories.

A good day had by ..... well most of us.

Actually the ride was fun and the company great. Seven Fjr's including a couple of Lurkers who came out of hiding for the romp. Wish it could have been more, but it about doubled last years turnout so we'll see what happen's next year. Gawd.. I had to get up at 5:30 to make breakfast. The last 20 miles it rained. (that's Washington). I had mesh gear on but you know it wasn't that bad. Here are some snapshots.

It was a nice day for a ride in the Cascade range with some new friends. I left home about 9 am and made it to Packwood at just before Noon. Good time for the fun route up the Gorge to Carson, then up 30 to FR-90 to Eagles Cliff and off on 25 to Randal. After I scraped a peg I remembered to change the setting to "hard" and didn't scrape the rest of the day. The 162 miles up to Packwood was a good warm up for the rest of the day. Too bad more of the Oregon contingent wasn't able to get away.

About 6-7 minutes after I got to Packwood, the rest of the gang showed up and we had a lite lunch. Talk about old guys, you should have seen all the salads on the table.

FJroamer led us off after the abligatory photo op, augmented by the group of Daffodil Princesses, all painfully young, eager and full of giggles.

It was a nice cool day and I enjoyed riding with the guys. FJroamer leads a brisk pace, but we all managed to work though the occasional traffic and keep up with him.

I took 12 back out to I-5 for the trip home and was pleasantly surprised to find I-5 acting like a true freeway for a change. I was in the right lane humming along, traffic in the center lane passing me slowly, and traffic in the left lane passing semi-briskly all the way back to I-205. Thing is, the temp gauge was staying nicely at 2 bars, while the speedo was at half way, in the right lane.

I made a stricly optional stop at Flying Pie Pizza for a small to go, and made it home just after 8 pm. 456 miles for the day.

uh oh!...., the Hooligans are at it again

Some explanation now becomes necessary!

1)That tree started out at the same size of surrounding foilage. The problem is that I'm constantly accused of setting a brisk pace when in reality, I'm trying to distance myself to avoid the ever present lens of "not-so" Sharp. I acquired the name of "Roamer", not for my riding attributes but rather for perpetually trying to elude Sharp

2) The Daffodil Princesses were a unique part of the Washington Priority Delivery Program. This was done by Yamaha so there would be no "griping" about late deliveries or bags/ liners. They also serve as 'immobilizers" in that they always remain w/ bike when you leave it. Yamaha did not, however, give us the #s for the immobilizers (This COULD justify an impending lawsuit!!!)

3) the REAL reason Silverbullet was a no show is because a certail yellow Yam. accessory would have had him immobilized upon the return home.

4) The Wrecking Crew had no new inductees nor is it currently accepting any! All rode briskly, but safely and giving each other room. It's a tough deal to become enthralled with the high speed prowess of the bike and take in the overwhelming scenery simultaneously (one of the down sides of our Cascade Capers!)

Thanks to all for the great day!

as Arnie says: "we'll be back"

Great piccies and great scenery. Wonder how big that tree will be next time you past that way. It's always good to faces and names together. Can I sense some inter-continental accessory rivalry developing. Sharp, from the videos it's nice to see everyone riding within the posted speed limit, and not crossing any double yellows Must be a bunch of real law-abiding gents

David1300, I am sorry to say, being totally honest, those video's were staged.
(so many nut cases in the US are taping their criminal avtivity, we thought we would try the opposite)(that's our story and we're sticking to it)

Looks like a great time!

But I thought the Hoons of Arkansas was the ugliest band of FJR owners... guess I was wrong.

Thanks for the pics!

I was just out that way on my FJR, the R1-for-old-farts, and couldn't get over how many state patrol there were. And when there weren't any state patrol around it was sheriffs and park rangers. I consider myself very lucky after 4 days and about 2000 miles to escape with only one ticket. The state patrol had people stopped everywhere, even me.
shouldn't my tax dollars be buying american
This is not the way to meet biker chicks. I gave her no reason to stop me, but she did anyways, and then whipped a bunch of attitude on me. Very uncharacteristic of the troopers I've met. I like the Pacific Northwest and visit Seattle every year, but I'm going back to the rental car. Besides, I miss all the scenery when I'm on the FJR.

Hwy504 to St Helens was very good.
[some of those mid-corner transitions from asphalt to concrete-bridge-deck will get your attention]
Hwy542? to Mt Baker was a bit rough.
Hwy20 near Ross Lake was good.
Hwy706/123/410 around Mt Ranier were good.
Hwy97/Bluit Pass? was very good.

However, all these roads paled when I got to MT Hwy37 from Libby to Eureka.

Great pics Sharp, thanks for sharing. Looks like the lasses at the pizza joint are riding side saddle, hmmmmm......

Hey wait a minute, nut cases, what the?

Davidb, bummer about blue lights, hopefully the rest of the trip made it worthwhile.

David, she was probably just peeved at having to ride that BMW.

Sorry that you got a ticket. They do seem to be out in force right now, most likely trying to get in their revenue quotas before the riding season ends for most.

The ferry's in the PNW charge more for motorcyclists during the "sunny months", also.

btw - you don't have to stop for the park rangers. don't ask me how I know this, but it's true, especially if they don't get your plate...
