Saturday was great riding, but the weather forecast did say afternoon showers. This is what I was heading towards, with home being 15 k's away and just left of the main storm front.
but the storm has to be quick to beat this FJR home. It started raining 2 minutes after I parked in the garage.
Today (Sunday) made up for it though. Beautiful day - a bit cooler, a little more wind, and great riding. But someone should tell those hangliders that those things are dangerous. You could get hurt playing with one of those.

Looks nice and green, I'm envious. Our side is still dry, brown, and hot.

January the dryest on record - Feb - got the full months rain in a week. Our Gold Coast water supply dam was down to 28% (approx 9 to 12 months supply), now back to 38%. Was heading there to take some piccies, but that's where the storm was. Trouble is, the soil below the surface is still very dry, so officially still 'severe drought', although the countryside greened up in days.
But it sure does make riding more pleasant.

We in NSW are like you mob in Qld. We had 3 days rain and everything is nice and green, haven't stopped mowing the lawn since, but officially it is still drought conditions all through NSW. Warragamba Dam, Sydney Catchment Supply, was down to 50 something %, but even though it is only about 1 kilometre from my place,I don't know how much the rain filled it. All I know is there are now potholes in the roads, everywhere.

Mike, thanks for the info. Probably won't make it, but you'll know if I do - black bike.
We generally are committed on Sunday mornings, and then there is the F1 GP in the afternoon. Enjoy the ride.

Reminder for Saturday 15th March:
Date: Saturday 15 March
Time: 9:00am for 10:00am start
Meet: MacDonalds in Browns Plains.
How to get there: Take Mt Lindesay Highway South exit off the Ipswich Toll Road. 1km along exit left to Johnson Road. McD's is 500m along on left. If you miss the turn, go to the next lights and come back through the carpark. Email me if you need better directions.
Ride to: Mt Tambourine, via Beaudesert, Tambourine Village to Eagle Heights on Mt Tambourine for Lunch. Alternative routes can be as short as 75 k's or as long as 120 k's (taking in Darlington Park raceway) depending on what we want. Can return via Canungra, or those who want a quicker way home can head to the highway.
Pillions welcome (we will be 2 up, and riding accordingly.) We will have regrouping stops so that those wanting to take in the scenery don't hold the boy-racers back.
Question: I have had interest from the Yamaha Tribe site from an R1 rider. Do we include non-FJR's???
| By Rod on Friday, March 07, 2003 - 02:08 am: |
I always include my friends on rides, as they have done for me, even when I got a Harley.

Don't forget the camera.

Next ride date for SE Qld riders - following the great ride on 15 March, and the comments that we should get together again in a couple of months, here are the suggestions:
Guys felt that a ride over the north/west of Brissie could be good; and suggestions were for May/June.
Here's some thought starters:
Two possible weekends that suit us at this stage are: 10/11 May or 14/15 June. Prefer Saturdays, but Sundays are OK.
What if we have 2 or 3 'collecting' points along the way, and making sure we all meet (for example) at Macca's in Ipswich (just off Ipswich road) at 9:00am. Leave from there to head out Esk/West way. Tryg or Rod to plan the route.
Same as last time - ride together to lunch venue, and split and ride home as suits everyone after lunch.
Pillions welcome.
Non-FJR riders welcome, as long as they are comfortable turning green with envy when looking at our FJR's.
Once we have agreed on date I'll notify Yamaha Tribe, and also advise Yamaha dealers in SE Qld so they can put a note up in their shops.
Look forward to hearing ideas from all.

My pleasure. 10th May at my place, 9 for 9:30. We can do the ride to MtG, MtM, Maleny or the Nanango, Crows Nest, Esk ride. We can decide on the day based on the weather.

Rod - 10 May it is; 9 for 9:30. Just give me the directions to your "my place" - off line email will do - and I'll get the 'publicity machine' rolling

Now that David has a problem with the date clashing with another commitment and we are talking a month out, we'll have some input from others re: best date and go with the majority.
| By David1300 on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 05:22 am: |
Thanks Rod. After my last post above (like in the next half hour) I developed a major clash
so Rod has kindly thrown the date into "the majority rules" category.
My vote is now for Saturday 17 May
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not sure anymore

Rod
would be good if you could all stop at Gatton Maccas and collect me... possibly go via Gatton proper and then Ma Ma Creek or via Murphy's Creek to the top of the range and then onto Maleny via Esk....
absolutely TOP ride !!!!!!!
